Constructed as the host facility for the 2011 Canada Games, this 176,000sf project is the largest single recreation facility in the atlantic region. The building is designed to a LEEDâ„¢ Silver standard with an emphasis on energy efficiency and providing a healthy interior environment. The facility features a 25m eight lane training pool, a leisure pool with two water slides, a field house accommodating three full size basketball courts and a 200m six lane running track. In addition, the facility contains a high performance fitness centre, flexible studios, multipurpose rooms, cafes and social spaces for the community. The building uses two hundred solar thermal collectors for heating of domestic hot water and thirty six solar duct modules for pre-heating of building air.
