DRDC Atlantic conducts research and development in support of operations acquisitions, maintenance and requirements planning by Canada’s Navy and Air Force.  This new building will accommodate research and development activity.  Spaces include new labs, a number of meeting and seminar spaces (including a seminar room to accommodate 200 persons), secure discussion rooms, shielded computer areas, and a new mechanical prototyping (heavy engineering) lab.  The building is designed with flexibility and adaptability of space and function in mind, in order to respond to changing operational priorities of DND, research focus, and evolving technology.

The building is seeking LEED Silver Accreditation, incorporating numerous sustainable design features and components.
