The building design is founded on construction simplicity, primary materials and passive resources. Attention to natural lighting and energy efficient systems will create comfortable welcoming spaces. Strategic design and integration of energy systems will make the building efficient; heat recovery will be employed to harness heat and cold for re-use within the building. The building design concept provides an interior ‘street’ as a communal gathering space, which functionally separates the cool from warm functions. The street provides a café, amenities, multi-purpose room, and YMCA reception. There are views and access into the pool, the two arenas, and into the gymnasium.
